  Kompany says 'OK' after five minutes on the phone with Munich

  Vincent Kompany, the new head coach of German top-flight club Bayern Munich, has revealed that he was first approached by Chelsea before Munich. However, Kompany reportedly turned them down twice.

  Kompany was offered by both Chelsea and Munich, but he chose to stay in Germany.

   

  “Bayern Munich has appointed Vincent Kompany as the new head coach of Bayern Munich,” the club announced on its official website on Tuesday, adding that the 38-year-old has agreed to a contract with the club until June 30, 2027.

  
  “I am looking forward to the challenge in Munich. “It is a great honor to be able to work for this club,” said Kompany, “I am looking forward to working with the fundamental players and building the team. If you get the fundamentals right, success will follow,” said Kompany.

   

  Kompany's appointment at Munich came quickly. Until this week, Kompany hadn't even been on the shortlist for Munich's next manager, but this week, his name was mentioned for the first time and the appointment was finalized.
